Could this be related to some extension instead of Firefox itself?
I've been working with long posts (both in Wordpress, and other editing in textareas) for a while using Firefox, and never encountered this. I also tried to reproduce this now with the instructions on the Bugzilla page, and couldn't (Firefox 1.5.06 on Win2k Pro).

Luckily there is a version management in Wikipedia. This bug is nearly as annoying as the copy + paste bug, which exists since 2003 and gets not fixed.

I've actually experienced this truncating bug yesterday on Wikipedia. I can't remember whether I switched tabs or not, but I assume I did.
